The Williamson County Commissioners Court next week will reconsider a grant for the sheriff’s office it rejected in July after some deputies said they are missing out on much-needed free equipment from the federal government that will cost more than $500,000 to replace.
Commissioners who voted July 21 against the grant that provides free excess equipment from the U.S. Department of Defense said at that time they did not have enough information about the grant and wanted the sheriff to show up to explain it. There were no representatives from the sheriff’s office at the July 21 meeting when the grant was denied.
Sheriff Robert Chody did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.
