The budget and budget narrative are straightforward items. The budget is a table listing how much you’re spending per year in each expense category: personnel, fringe benefits, travel, supplies, contractual, other costs and indirect. The budget narrative is, like it sounds, a narrative description breaking down how the money is being spent in each category: how many personnel are being hired; specific travel costs (e.g., airline, hotel, mileage, etc.); itemized supply expenses and so on.
