Be careful when asking federal grant management questions online. You never know who’s responding. They might have a lot of experience or they might have managed a single $1,000 Rotary Club grant and they’re just answering off the cuff. Who knows? At the very least, the person responding should be able to tell you the source of their answer so you can do your own research; citing a regulation in the Uniform Guidance is a good start. If your costs are later disallowed, and you need to repay the funds, the federal government does not accept “someone on the Internet said it was okay” as a defense.
