Oakland County receives $600,000 federal grant to assess most contaminated properties

The Oakland County Brownfield Consortium will receive $600,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help assess its most contaminated properties through the year 2023. 

The Fiscal Year 2020 EPA Assessment Coalition grant will be used to conduct environmental site investigations and baseline environmental assessments on some of the county’s most polluted properties, which are often referred to as brownfields. More than 1,000 of these brownfield properties are located within the county, with many of them located along three corridors including 8 Mile, John R., and Telegraph roads.
