Have you ever wondered which cities or states or organizations receive the most grant funding? There’s a simple way to look it up. Go to USAspending.gov where you can search for grants across the US or drill down to a specific region. If you’re interested in only the competitive grants awarded to public and private organizations, search for “project grants” and “cooperative agreements.” If you don’t limit your search, you’ll see all the grant spending which includes the block grants and formula grants for every federal assistance program.
By narrowing the search, you’ll be able to see which organizations are receiving the grants you’re going after. From there, you can go to the funding agency’s website and probably find their funded application to see how they approached the requirements. Nothing wrong with researching your competition.
